Description

The award-winning Finance team at company has a challenging opportunity for a Senior Financial Reporting Analyst. This role may sit in either of our Chicago, IL, Denver, CO, Houston, TX or San Antonio, TX office locations. The individual in this role will be a member of the financial reporting group for a publicly traded, international writer of property and casualty insurance and reinsurance. The team is highly visible, responsible for external and internal corporate reporting, as well as directly participating in a number of global finance projects and initiatives… and we have lot of fun while doing it!

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Participate in the preparation of our group consolidated financial statements, including footnotes to the financial statements and other disclosures
  • Participate in the preparation and review of financial reports and filings with the Securities & Exchange Commission (SEC) and other regulatory bodies
  • Manage relationships between corporate finance management and various international and domestic affiliate finance units
  • Lead, or participate as a member of, cross-functional teams for various corporate-level projects, including financial systems implementations, process improvement initiatives, and merger & acquisition finance integration and reporting
  • Participate in research and application of US GAAP and SEC regulatory requirements
  • Prepare or review annual subsidiary-level financial statements and related audit support
  • Assist with the preparation and review of internal and external audit requests
  • Assist with supporting the Investor Relations team, including earnings releases and other external communications
  • Participate in the preparation of reports and materials for distribution to executive management and the Board of Directors
  • Other reporting or relationship management responsibilities/projects, as needed


Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Minimum of two years of professional accounting/finance experience; three or more years preferred
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance from a four-year college or university (master's degree a plus)
  • Effective communication and relationship-building skills
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities

  • Ability to meet tight deadlines while managing competing priorities
  • Comfortable functioning in a group with high corporate visibility

  • CPA/CPA exam-eligible or MBA (preferred)
  • Insurance industry experience (preferred)
  • Experience with general ledger/consolidations software such as Oracle, FCCS, (preferred)
  • Experience with business intelligence tools such as SmartView, Cognos BI, TM1, etc. (preferred)
