Job Description
Company is supporting the Department of Defense (DoD) in Arlington, VA on a 5-year contract. The System Administrator DBA's responsibilities will include the design, installation, and maintenance of Microsoft SQL Server 2008/2012/2014/2016 servers in virtualized environments. The DBA will work with and support the other members of the project team in support of applications such as SCCM, SCOM, ITSM, SolarWinds, SharePoint, and Horizon View. The DBA will be responsible for the creation of low-level design, implementation, and documentation. Participate in engineering design reviews, articulate complex designs, and build decision briefs for leadership to make recommendations for technology lifecycles refreshes, and solutions to customer requirements. Assists in the installation and configuration of hardware and software applications. Schedules the installation of new or modified hardware, operating systems, and software applications. Writes program scripts to facilitate backup and recovery procedures. Interacts with other information technology (IT) specialists in systems design, resource utilization and hardware/software installations.

Responsibilities:
- Install, configure, and manage multiple SQL server environments with high availability and disaster recovery, to include Monitoring, Analysis, Reporting, and Data Warehouse Services and solutions.
- SQL Server encryption using transparent data encryption (TDE) and PKI certificates.
- Understand, write, and execute T-SQL and PowerShell scripts.
- Create, execute, manage, and validate database server backups via SSMS --> Management tasks, while leveraging forward thinking concepts, processes, and technology that meet the organizations Recovery Point Objectives (RPO) and Recovery Time Objectives (RTO).
- Working with System Owners to periodically review RPO's and RTO's to determine suitability.
- Proficiency in monitoring of system health and performance, to ensure high levels of performance, availability, and security via SQL Server tools.
- Identify and automate regular/daily processes, track new and reoccurring issues, and document changes defined by the organization's configuration management processes.
- Perform scheduled maintenance and support release deployment activities after core business hours.
- SQL Server reporting services (SSRS) integration and operation
- Online Analytical Processing (OLAP) and Online Transaction Processing (OLTP)



Qualifications

Skills:
- Must have CompTIA Security+
- Install, configure and manage SQL server environments
- This will be a shift position and the current opening is Wednesday – Saturday 3pm – 1am.

- All applicants must be U.S. Citizens and have either a current DoD Secret or TS/SCI clearance eligibility, day one and prior to entry on duty.

 

Basic Required Qualifications and Skills:

- IAT Level II Certification
o CompTIA Security+
- Experience with the troubleshoot techniques and analysis of SQL Server service outages and performance issues as they occur in real time.
- Experience with Windows Server, Active Directory, and McAfee products.
- Experience in securing a SQL environment to include applying and documenting DISA's Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIGs)
- Experience upgrading Microsoft SQL Server 2008/2012/2014 to 2016, to include creating documentation experience working with, upgrading and documenting Sequel Server Management Studio (SSMS) 2008/2012/2014 to the current decoupled versions of SSMS V.17.6 (and beyond).
- Experience with SQL Server availability group design, documentation, and operation

Desired Qualifications and Skills:
It is desirable that the candidate has the following qualifications:
- CompTIA Network+ or CCNA or CCNP Desired
- 2 - 6 Years of System or Network Administration Experience
- Working experience with SCCM

- A relevant educational degree in one of the follow fields: Computer Science, Information Systems, Information Technology, Cyber Security, Statistics, Business Administration, Systems Engineering, Computation Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Data Analytics, Information Technology, Information Security and Assurance, Mathematics, Software Engineering, Systems Engineering, or Telecommunications.
