A Senior Systems Engineer provides technical support in system architecture, system design, system integration and technical management. Assists in providing technical input to the systems engineering process. Leads teams in developing application and technical plans. Guide customers in the installation and use of strategic products through education and guidance, first-use and tuning assistance problem solving and critical situation resolution.

The mission of the company is to support One VA world-class service to Veterans and their families by delivering results-oriented, secure, highly available, and cost-effective information technology services. IO support helps to provide critical services such as benefits and home loan applications processing, focusing on consistent availability of Veteran-facing applications and quick delivery of benefits for Veterans.

The Contractor shall provide analytical processes to the planning, design and implementation of new and improved information systems to meet the business requirements of customer organizations across the appropriate shifts.
In support of System Architecture efforts, the Contractor shall:
1. Provide technical analysis including:
a. Perform needs analyses to define opportunities for new or improved business process solutions. Provide results to COR or assigned VA PM.
b. Conduct business process engineering.
c. Gather, describe and document functional and system requirements using processes and methods in a broad range of IT activities and in-depth analysis of IT issues as necessary.
d. Refine system architecture objectives.
e. Develop cost estimates for new and modified systems and identify risks and assumptions. Provide to COR or assigned VA PM.
f. Conduct feasibility studies and trade-off analyses. Analysis must be completed in the context of local, national and federal architectural standards. Deliver studies to COR or assigned VA PM.
2. Prepare business cases for the application of IT solutions.
3. Ensure the integration of all systems components, e.g., procedures, databases, policies, software, and hardware; planning systems implementation.
4. Ensure the rigorous application of information security/information assurance policies, principles, and practices to the systems analysis process.
5. Participate as a systems analyst/solution architect on various VA projects.
6. Meet with customers, VA technical staff and management through in-person and remote settings.
7. Present information formally and informally, including business cases, systems designs, technology briefings and training to a variety of audiences.
8. Keep System Architecture documents up to date by utilizing ITOPS IO currently installed version of Microsoft Word, Excel, Visio, PowerPoint, SharePoint and other ITOPS IO currently supported tools used for documentation, as necessary. Documents may include specific configuration instructions, specifications, hardware and software requirements, implementation plans, version description, interface requirements/guide, administrative support guide, troubleshooting guides, user/analyst guide and physical and logical layer diagrams as necessary.
9. Use the standard ITOPS IO change management system to obtain new work assignments, update status and store work products as necessary.


Specialize in storage administration and SAN (storage area network).
Experience with NetApp in cluster mode is required.
Experience with CommVault or equivalent.

Candidate must have the ability to solve complex problems involving a wide variety of information systems.
Candidate must be able to understand and differentiate between critical and non-critical systems and networks.

Master's Degree in computer science, electronics engineering or other engineering or technical discipline is required plus 10 years of experience. 10 years of additional relevant experience may be substituted for educatio
