Description

This task requires applying analytical processes to the planning, design and implementation of new and improved information systems to meet the business requirements of customer organizations.
A Senior System Administrator has the thorough knowledge to create plans to assure effective management, operations, and maintenance of systems and/or networks. Manages teams of system admins and is able to prioritize work and identify high risk critical problems and dedicate appropriate resources. Ha extensive knowledge of a wide variety of systems and networks to include high volume/high availability systems.
 

Responsibilities:
The Contractor shall provide on a 24x7x365 basis the following tasks:
1. Perform discovery and requirements analysis for new system features, analysis of current system capabilities and limitations and design/engineer new system capabilities to meet requirements.
2. Provide SME level support on current VA network and server infrastructure monitoring tools such as CA Spectrum Infrastructure Manager, CA Service Operations Insight, and CA Virtual Assurance, CA Unified Infrastructure Management, Orion Solarwinds, CA eHealth, CA NetQoS and other similar system management tools.
3. Customize CA Spectrum Infrastructure Manager, CA Service Operations Insight, and CA Virtual Assurance to provide dashboards, monitoring and alerts for monitored network and server infrastructure environments.
4. Integrate network and server infrastructure monitoring tools with other monitoring systems and reporting/dashboard tools.
5. Assist Enterprise Service Desk, IT, and performance testing staff on the use of the network and server infrastructure performance monitoring and availability of systems to find the root cause of performance and availability issues.
6. Develop standards, policies and procedures around the use of the network and server infrastructure performance monitoring and availability suite of products in the pre-production and production environments, and provide all recommendations to and for approval by the COR/VA PM(s) prior to implementation or changes.
7. Participate in tuning and troubleshooting efforts.
8. Work with customers to resolve identified performance



Qualifications

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS: (Specific to the actual work to be performed)
5 years of strong industry experience in managing and developing programs using enterprise specifications.
Full life cycle software development experience – budgeting, requirements gathering, analysis/design, development, testing, deployment and maintenance
SDLC, DevOps, Continuous Integration, Continuous Delivery
 

DESIRED SKILLS: (Specific to the actual work to be performed)
Desired Additional Skills and/or Certifications:
Highly skilled at UNIX shell scripting, sed, AWK and TCL
Extensive knowledge of UNIX system administration on multiple platforms: Linux, Solaris, HPUX, AIX
Linux Certified Engineer
Network engineer qualifications with Cisco hardware, network switches, hubs, routers, and Operating System level configuration
Monitoring software expert with CA Introscope (APM)


MINIMUM EDUCATION/ MINIMUM EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
Bachelor's Degree/5 years' experience Computer Science, EE, or other engineering technical discipline. 8 years additional relevant experience substituted for education.
